Newly renovated village house in Figueira, Budens, Algarve

This beautifully renovated house (sleeps 2-3) is situated in the heart of a quiet village street in Figueira, near Salema and Parque de Floresta, providing a perfect base for walkers, painters, writers, surfers, golfers as well as for those wanting the turquoise sea and white sandy beaches.

The renovations of Casa Pequeninha are to an extremely high standard and offer many original features, including a small outside space with a barbecue, table and chairs within the walls of the house. The effect of this design allows ample daylight inside the house, as well as providing a special secluded outside area. The fully equipped kitchen is handmade with granite tops and handmade wall tiles. There is a comfortable lounge/dining room, a bathroom, an upstairs double bedroom with a velux window and a small second bedroom downstairs for a third person. All materials used throughout the house are natural – chestnut double glazed windows and door, upstairs pine floor and Santa Catarina tiles throughout the downstairs and most of the furniture is handmade. The house is heated by a couple of panel heaters during the winter. A computer and broadband internet connection can be made available.

 

Figueira is a small, friendly Portuguese village, also home to many other nationalities. It is tucked away from the main road, the 125, and is situated about 2 km from the sea. Even in the height of the summer, it retains its quiet village atmosphere. It is a 20 min walk to Figueira beach (see below) through a beautiful valley passing olive and almond trees and a 30 min walk to Salema (or a 5 min. drive) along a quiet, well-lit road with a pavement. There are stunning coastal walks through the Natural Park where lavender, rosemary, thyme and sage grow wild. All the beaches are white sand, ochre rock and cliff formations and the sea turquoise.

It is a 2 min. drive to Parque de Floresta, the famous golf resort, which also has tennis courts, a bowls green, a large outdoor pool, a health spa and gym. Figueira is also close to the secluded beaches of Fornas, Zavial and Ingrina and it is 15 minute drive to Sagres and the West coast - great for surfing.

There are a couple of bars and cafes in Figueira itself and two restaurants. In nearby Salema, there are many more restaurants and several in Budens and Vila do Bispo There are a couple of small shops in the village while the bigger supermarket, Ecomarche, is a 2 min drive away in Budens. Lagos, an historic town about 18km away, provides many cultural events and tourist trips such as dolphin watching, as well as many more restaurants, bars, nightlife. Fishing trips can be arranged. There is a regular bus service to Lagos and Sagres.
