Day workshops on writing fiction, Algarve

Ideal for anyone wanting to do something different while staying in the Algarve. These workshops run from 10.00am until 4.30pm during the summer months (April - Oct) at Casa Mira Montanha in Chilrão (between Marmelete and Monchique) and include lunch in Monchique. Suitable for beginning writers and those with some experience. All nationalities welcome although the courses are held in English. Groups sizes are between 3 - 4 students. Places need to be booked at least a couple of days in advance.

The courses will focus on the short story and introduce aspects of fiction including character, writing description, plot development and forms of narration.

Half day workshops (10.00am - 12.30 or 2.00 - 4.30pm) are also available and can be combined with other workshops in Chilrão on painting with Liz Allen (visual artist). For more information visit their website at

Day courses: 70 Euros including light lunch in Monchique and photocopies

Getting to Mira Montanha, Chilrão  -  From the main road that links Monchique (Nave) and Aljezur, follow the sign to Portela da Viuva, Pe do Frio and Chilrão (turn right from Casais or left from Marmelete). It is an 8 - 10 minute drive on a good tarmac road. When you reach Chilrão, turn left towards Selão and Mira Montanha is on your left.
