Writing Your Memoirs
For those of you who do not enjoy the process of writing, but who would like to share your memories with your children, grandchildren, other family members and friends, then I can work with you to tell your story. We tend to think that memoirs and autobiographies/biographies are only for famous people, but everyone has a story to tell and I believe that everyone should tell their story. How many times have you thought about what your grandfather used to say or do, but you can not quite remember? Wouldn't it be nice if he had written his memories of childhood, told you about where he grew up, the kind of life he had? Traditionally, family histories were passed down orally from generation to generation but, these days, with so many families living apart, hardly seeing each other, and with television for entertainment, combined with the fact that our lives have changed so much from one generation to another, this rarely happens. Different generations even struggle to understand each other. Wouldn't it make a differance if we knew about the kind of world our grandparents lived in? And wouldn't it help our grandchildren to understand us if they knew about the world we live in? Writing your memoirs can help bridge the past to the present and the present to the future.
If you live in the Algarve - or planning to visit - I can help you write your memoirs and self-publish them. Depending on how much you want to do yourself and how long you want them to be, how much research and interviews we would need to do, would depend on how much it would cost, but a short book of about 60 pages (or about 30,000 words), based on several interviews with you and which would take about three months to write up and publish (print-on-demand) with a simple cover would cost about 2,500 euros.

Here is a short piece, I wrote for the Guardian Weekly about the writing of my novel, The Last Dance over the Berlin Wall.
