2 bed cottage in Marmelete, Western Algarve

This cosy rustic cottage is situated at the edge of a mountain village in the Serra de Monchique. It is ideally located just a short walk away from the cafés, restaurants, shops, post office and internet access. Marmelete is a traditional Algarvian village, but has also a friendly international community. There are beautiful walks nearby and the Via Algarviana (a 240 km footpath that traverses the Algarve from Alcoutim to Cape Saint Vincent) passes through the village. The West Coast (great for surfing) is just a 15-20 minute drive (17 km from Aljezur) and only a little further on the south coast lies the historic town of Lagos and many more beaches. The mountain town of Monchique and the spa village, Caldas de Monchique, are also about a twenty minute drive.

The accommodation can sleep a family of four. There are two small bedrooms, both with double beds (190 x 140 and 190 x 130) and there is also a loft space with a single mattress. The open plan lounge/kitchen is small but well equipped. The kitchen area has a gas cooker, fridge, microwave and expresso machine. The lounge area has a sofa, a table and a satellite television (Astra). The bathroom has a bath with shower over and a bidet. There is also a washing machine, a wood burner and two electric heaters making the accommodation ideal for longer rentals and/or winter lets.

The house is south-south-east facing and outside there are beautiful views over the south coast and the village. There is ample parking in front of the house and an outside space to the side can be used by guests to sit outside and barbecue. (Please note that this is communal land and the neighbours occasionally use the area to dry washing.)

Cost: 30 euros per night (minimum stay 2 nights) or 210 euros per week for up to a family of four. Towels and linen are provided. There is an extra cleaning charge of 25 euros.
